Reading, Pennsylvania Chippendale walnut tall case clock, late 18th c., the broken arch bonnet enclosing an 8-day works with painted face, signed "Daniel Oyster, Reading", over a case with fluted quarter columns supported by ogee bracket feet, 101" h. Provenance: Descended directly in the Muhlenberg family to the present owner.
Condition
Parts: pendulum, winding key, two weights, door key. Scrolls cut and reattached but are original. Finials old replacements. Feet replaced. Old repair to left lip of waist door. Glass original. Great old surface. No warping. Backboard original. Seatboard has two holes on each side. Clock evidenses use of only one hole on each side though all looks original. Fine old finish. Provenance: decended in the famous Muhlenberg family of Revolutionary War fame. We do not guarantee the working condition of clocks.
