Reading Artist (Berks County, Pennsylvania, active 1828-1845), watercolor double portrait of Andrew and Mary Ream dated 1845, both figures seated in yellow windsor chairs in a vibrant decorated interior with red curtains and lattice pattern floor, 11 1/2" x 13 1/2". This is the only double portrait by this artist that we are aware of.
Parts: provenance included with lot. Light water stains along bottom edge. 1" tear to top left corner. 1/4" loss to left edge. Conservation mounting. Provenance: descended directly in the family of the sitters, a more detailed provenance is available to the buyer.
