Rare walnut and poplar carved and painted lecturn box, ca. 1860, the lid carved to represent an open book resting on a draped cloth with tassel corners, 5 1/2" h., 12 1/2" w. A similar example was sold at the Stewart Gregory sale, Sotheby's, January, 1979.
Typical wear to paint. Otherwise in good condition.
