Rare Somerset County, Pennsylvania painted pine wall cupboard, ca. 1835, in two parts, the upper section with two 6-light doors over a lower section with 2 drawers and 2 sunken panel doors, suppported by bracket feet, retaining its original vibrant and unique decorated surface, 84" h., 51" w., 21" d. This cupboard descended in the Custer/Lohr family whose original family homestead was located about 5 miles from the village of Soap Hollow. By family tradition, the cupboard was originally made as a wedding gift for Miss Custer and then purchased for a sum of $3 by her daughter. It then descended through her in the Lohr family to the present owner.
