Rare self-portrait photograph of David F. Barry, posed with Chief Rain-In-The-Face, with Barry blind stamp on both photo and mat, the mat inscribed To Mr. A. W. Johnson, From D. W. Barry. Chief Rain-In-The-Face was a Lakota war chief who participated in the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876, defeating Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer's regiment. Legend has it that he cut out the heart of Thomas Custer and possibly killed George Custer during the battle, photo - 6 1/2" x 4 1/8", frame - 13 1/2" x 9 1/2".

Condition

Good condition, one corner, under mat, with some paper stuck to front side of photo, one very small edge imperfection to left side, photo retains very good contrast.
