Rare Philadelphia Folwell school needlework memorial wrought by Sarah Staats in the year 1800, the oval work with soldier and woman beside a tomb, inscribed "Sacred to the Memory of the illustrious Washington", 16 1/4" x 18 1/4". Accompanying this lot is a letter from Sarah Staats dated "Philadelphia July 4th 1800" in which she states "my piece is almost done and I expect to finish it next week".
