Rare pair of New England painted rectangular dresser boxes, mid 19th c., with fitted interiors, both with fruit decorated lids and berry wreath borders, the front of one with an oval landscape with a couple picking apples, the second with two stags and a man fishing in the background, one inscribed inside the lid Asahel W. Wheelock presented by his mother, 5 1/4'' h., 10 3/4'' w., 6 1/2'' d. Asahel W. Wheelock, 1827-1856, lived in Watertown, Massachusetts. Provenance: Nimmo & Hart, Philadelphia, 1976.
