Rare New York Federal mahogany musical tall case clock, ca. 1790, with a pagoda top with eagle inlay enclosing an eight-day works signed Effingham Embree New York, above a line inlaid case. The works are a three-train movement that play six tunes on eight bells struck by thirteen hammers, tunes are changed manually by a selector dial. This typical Embree case is possibly made by his cousin, Thomas Burling, a New York cabinet maker as the case is impressed inside the pendulum door with the initials TB, 99 1/2" h. Provenance: The Estate of Charles West Wilson, Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
