Silver gelatin press photograph of The Burning Monk, one of the most iconic and important photographs in history taken by Malcome Brown for which he won a Pulitzer Prize, of Thich Quang Duc self-immolating in protest of the treatment of Buddhists by the regime of President Ngo Dinh Diem, the back with stamped filed January 3, 1964 and return to library, a piece of paper on the back explains the scene. Quang Duc's act of martyrdom became a clear sign of the volatility of the nation of Vietnam. President Kennedy later commented, "No news picture in history has generated so much emotion around the world as that one", 7" x 9", frame - 15 3/4" x 17 3/4".
