Philadelphia silk on gauze sampler, dated 1793, wrought by Hannah Hartshorne and attributed to the Ann Marsh school, with crewelwork trailing vines, 14" x 12 1/2". Two related samplers also attributed to the Marsh school are illustrated in Betty Ring Girlhood Embroidery, pg. 361 and 262. Provenance: Freemans Auction, April 20, 2010, lot 470.
