Philadelphia painted fireman's parade hat, 19th c., the front decorated with a dramatic scene of a bald eagle perched atop the American shield with a seascape background under a banner, inscribed United States Fire Co., the lid initialed E.R., the backside of the hat inscribed U.S., beneath a sawtooth border, bears a Harry Neal label on the underside, 6 1/2" h., 11 3/4" w., 13 1/2" d.

Condition

Untouched original condition. No apparent inpainting. Surface abrasions/some damage to top edge and rim in front. Very dirty. Label reads "Property of Harry Neel".
