Philadelphia Chippendale walnut tall case clock, ca. 1770, the broken arch bonnet with a carved central finial, enclosing an eight day works with brass face, inscribed E. Duffield Philada., over a case with fluted quarter columns and ogee bracket feet, 99" h. Provenance: Butterfield & Butterfield, October 29, 1996, lot 2552; A New Jersey estate.
Rosettes replaced. Finials and cartouche appear to be original. Name plate possibly added. Original feet with some new blocking. Pook & Pook does not guarantee clocks to be complete or in working condition. The name boss, inscribed {E. Duffield Philad} is probably not original to the works.
