Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chair, ca. 1770, the crest with a central voluted floral spray, above a pierced splat and trapezoidal slip seat, supported by carved cabriole legs terminating in ball and claw feet. A matching chair also from the Philadelphia Museum of Art was sold at Pook & Pook, Inc., October 3, 2015, lot 265. Provenance: Property sold with the approval of the trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds.
Refinished. Repaired break to one ear. Original yellow pine slip seat. Two corner blocks replaced.
