Pennsylvania walnut wainscot armchair, ca. 1725, with a straight crest and raised panel back flanked by bold square arms with rolled handholds over a plank seat supported by blocked and turned legs with bobbin and ring medial stretcher and double side stretchers, 43" h. This chair, with its straight back and overall proportions, reflects the Philadelphia interpretation of the Cromwellian armchair. Provenance: Roger Bacon, 1961.
