Pennsylvania silk and paint on silk pictorial needlepoint, attributed to the Folwell School, ca. 1805, depicting 2 young lovers in a pastoral landscape, the background with a cottage and three men working in a field, 22" x 24 1/4". According to family tradition, the schoolgirl who wrought this piece was Kathryn Myers, b. 1778.
In the upper left corner of the blue sky, there are small creases and small areas of paint loss (abrasions). Regarding the silk, there is minor fraying to the mid-right section of the tree trunk.
