Pennsylvania redware figure of an elephant, 19th c., the orange glazing with yellow splotch highlights. The figure is fitted with a saddle and stands atop an oval base with incised floral decoration, inscribed 25C on underside, 3 1/2" h., 8 1/2" w. This is an extremely rare and possibly unique form. Provenance: James and Nancy Glazer.
Repair to trunk, tusk, tail and front of base.
