Pennsylvania Queen Anne walnut armchair, ca. 1750, possibly Lancaster County, with an upholstered back and seat, massive downward sloping arms with baluster supports, scalloped seat frame, and cabriole front legs terminating in crooked feet, retaining a desirable old dark finish. The back and arms with evidence of tack holes of the original over-upholstery. A chair of similar design is pictured in Swank, Art of the Pennsylvania Germans fig. 67, and is in the collection of The Henry Francis DuPont Winterthur Museum. Provenance: Collection of Arthur Sussel, Parke Bernet Galleries, October 1958, lot 592.

Arms previously upholstered. Repaired cracks to both stiles. 3" chip to inside of rear leg.
