Pennsylvania painted poplar dower chest dated 1794, the rectangular lid over a dovetailed case, signed "Michael Scheiele", over a central cartouche with ochre sponge decoration, the sides with circular red, blue, and brown pinwheel motif, over 3 short drawers resting on straight bracket feet, all on blue ground, 27" h., 49 3/4" w.
