Pennsylvania painted poplar chest of drawers, early 19th c., with a carved and reeded cornice above four drawers, flanked by incised pinwheels and incised half columns, resting on frontal cabriole legs terminating in trifid feet, retaining its original red and ochre grain decorated surface, 52" h., 41 1/4" w. A similar chest of this incised form was sold at Sotheby's as part of the collection of Sandy and Julie Palley, January 18, 2002, Lot 878.

Condition

Very minor small losses to return molding at cornice. Nice old surface. Several knobs replaced.
