Pennsylvania painted pine dower chest, ca. 1900, the lid inscribed Margaretha Himelberger, the architectural façade with floral panels and a blue ground 29 1/2" h., 49 1/2" w. Two other dower chests by the same hand are illustrated in Monroe Fabian {The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest}, figs. 154 and 224. The second is in the collection of Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library. Provenance: A New Jersey Collection.
