Pennsylvania painted dower chest dated 1781, the front decorated with parrots, fish, and tulips on a green ground, the sides with bold philphlots and tulips. For a nearly identical example, see Pook & Pook, Inc. Machmer collection, Lot 513.
Depth - 21 1/4" (case) (lid is 22" d., base is 22" d.). Front feet good. Others replaced. Age crack to lid.
