Pennsylvania or Virginia painted pine dower chest dated 1772, the rectangular molded edge lid with pinwheel flanked by clover shaped panel with tulips, over a dovetail case with 2 similar arched panels centering a heart and cartouche, inscribed "Ann 1772", the ends with matching panels, all on a ochre stippled ground supported by short bracket feet with white and black stripes, 21" h., 48 1/2" w.
