Pennsylvania or Southern painted poplar dower chest, ca. 1800, the lid with three tombstone panels adorned with tulips and birds, over a case with similar decoration flanked by heart corners, all on an ochre sponged ground, supported by bracket feet, 25'' h., 46 1/4'' w. Provenance: Private collection, Milwaukee, WI.
Expected wear. Hinges bent (one broken). Lid does not open and close properly.
