Lititz, Pennsylvania Moravian silk on silk embroidery, dated 1817, inscribed Ellen B. Hawkins on obelisk, with image of Moses in the Bulrushes painting, attributed to Samuel Reinke, a Moravian minister and artist from Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Ellen, daughter of William Hawkins, (Baltimore, Maryland), entered the school in 1814, 18" dia. Pictured in The Ornamental Branches, Needlework and Arts from the Lititz Moravian Girls' School Between 1800 and 1865, by Patricia T. Herr, page 42, fig. 19.
