Pennsylvania German painted pine dower chest, dated 1786, with overall blue sponged decoration, the front with two ivory panels with pots of flowers, bearing the date 1786, the ends decorated with vibrant rampant lions and tulip buds, all resting on straight bracket feet, 18'' h., 48'' w., 17'' d. Provenance: James and Nancy Glazer. Enzyme cleaned prior to 2004. An old period base was adapted to the chest. The top molding was renailed and the keeper was moved on the lid of the chest. Crab lock missing.
