Exclusive on Bidsquare Lancaster, Pennsylvania Chippendale figured walnut secretary desk, ca. 1770
, in two parts, the upper case with a broken arch and sunflower rosettes, centered by three flame finials with a carved shell tympanum over astragal doors, with sunken panels flanked by reeded quarter columns, the lower case with a fall front opening to serpentine front doors, cubby holes, and a shell carved book door, the drawers with reeded quarter columns, all resting on ogee feet, 84" h., 39" w. Provenance: a North Carolina collection.
Finials, rosettes, and shell are replaced. Patch to top edge of slant lid. Brasses replaced. One drawer with nailed ends. Feet replaced.
