Lancaster, Pennsylvania Chippendale mahogany tall case clock, late 18th c., the broken arch bonnet with fully carved tympanum and sides, enclosing an eight day works, inscribed John Smith Lancaster. John Smith is referenced in Wood, Clockmakers and Watchmakers of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Only two clocks were known to the author, both with sweep second and calendar hands. Provenance: A New Jersey estate.

Condition

100" h. (to top of center finial). All finials replaced, including rooster. Puttied crack to base. Top 5" of backboard replaced. Pook & Pook does not guarantee clocks to be complete or in working condition. Provenance: NJ Estate.
