Pair of Grecian-style painted rush seat side chairs, ca. 1830, probably Philadelphia, retaining their original vibrant red and black faux rosewood surface with gilt highlights, stylized shell splats, and turned legs joined by stretchers, 32'' h. A very similar chair is illustrated in Montgomery American Furniture, The Federal Period, plate 466.
Expected wear. Overall good. Both with nails/nail holes to front rail and corners.
