Painted fireman's parade hat, ca. 1825, for the Independence Hose Co., decorated with an oval portrait of Thomas Jefferson, 6" h., 11 1/2" w., 12 3/4" d.
Repair through "Hose Co", 3 1/2" x 1", and the majority of the "Hose Co." banner is touched-up. No touch-up to face. No lining. Otherwise in good condition. Initials on hat read IS (top) and IH (back).
