Painted barrel back pine two part corner cupboard, probably English, mid 18th c., the dentil molded cornice over 3 scalloped shelves, the interior ceiling with shell and cherub polychrome decoration flanked by stop fluted pilasters over a base with 2 raised panel doors flanked by raised panel stiles and supported by a blocked base with carved ogee bracket feet, retaining original old Spanish brown surface, 86 1/2" h., 54 1/2" w. Provenance: Philip Cowan.
Probably English, NOT Hudson Valley. Top 2" of cornice replaced. Capitals replaced. Lacking doors. Worm damage. Paint flaking. Some restoration to feet.
