New England painted pine blanket chest, ca. 1810, possibly Springfield, Massachusetts, retaining a bold red and black swirl surface on ends and top, the drawer fronts in various patterns, including circles, ovals, diagonals, and"V" formation, with a lift lid over three faux drawers over two drawers, all resting on tall bracket feet, 52 1/2" h., 36 3/4" w., 19" d. Provenance: A Maryland collection.
