Oil on canvas portrait of Sir Francis Bernard (1712-1779), Bernard served as the governor of New Jersey and Massachusetts and was the architect of Harvard Hall at Harvard University, 50" x 40". Purchased by the Robert C. Vose Galleries, Boston, July 2, 1930. Exhibited at Wadsworth Athenaeum, Newark Museum. Provenance: by decent in the family; Vose Galleries; A Delaware collector.
