Ohio painted poplar dower chest, dated 1840, inscribed Elisabeth Luke, the decoration attributed to the Long family of Hardin County, the case featuring potted tulips on a red ground with blue panels, 25" h., 44" w. Provenance: The Collection of Edson J. Brown and Ross M. Trump, Medina, Ohio.
Very good untouched original condition. Knot patch to lid done in the making. Lock catch not attached.
