Ohio or Indiana painted poplar two-part secretary, dated 1884, initialed DJB, retaining its original red surface with green moldings, stippled drawer fronts, stenciled initials and date, one interior drawer is inscribed Moses D. Bontrager, 79 1/2" h., 37 3/4" w. The present piece was made in the style of Soap Hollow furniture of Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Provenance: The Collection of Edson J. Brown and Ross M. Trump, Medina, Ohio.

Condition

Overall very good condition with minor wear. Screws added above top drawer to fix crack from hinge blowout. Repaired break to one lid support
