Magnificent northwest European brass Three Kings candlestick, 15th c., with a double knop threaded shaft supporting a swiveling double arm with two pierced cups above a base with a circular dished cup, 18 1/4" h. This is one of the tallest and best examples of this form. A similar three-arm example was on display and pictured in the published catalog of The Museum of Handicrafts in Frankfurt by Hildegard Hoos, Candlesticks from Eight Centuries, December 1987, fig. 44. Provenance: Collection of Colonel and Mrs. Miodrag Blagojeviceh West St. Mary's Manor, Drayden, Maryland.

Condition

Repairs to one arm. One cup attached with a modern screw. The double-socket arm is loose on the shaft, possibly a very early marriage.
