North Carolina redware dish, early 19th c., attributed to Solomon Loy of Alamance County, with yellow, green, and brown slip decoration with a central philphlot within a sawtooth border and floral sprig on the outer edge, 10 1/4'' dia. Two similar examples in the collection of the Barnes Foundation are illustrated in Beckerdite and Hunter Ceramics in America, figs. 40 and 41.
