Willett, the border engraved This plate was purchased with the money granted to Col. Willett by Congress for his Revolutionary services, 20 1/4" dia., approx. 95 ozt. Colonial Marinus Willett's military career started when he was 18 years old at which time he joined Captain Thomas Williams company out of Jamaica, Long Island. He quickly gained fame as a Sons of Liberty member when he seized arms from the British as they attempted to flee New York City. Later he helped defend Peekskill and Fort Stanwix and was one of the founding members of the Society of the Cincinnati.
