An important Albany, New York pewter communion service, ca. 1810, bearing the touch of Timothy Brigden, to include a pair of chalices, 8 7/8" h., flagon, 10" h., and a deep dish marked by Spencer Stafford, 13 1/2" dia. Provenance: Christie's, Deaccessioned property from the Collections of Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, October 21, 1995, lot 154. According to museum records the set was purchased by Levi Morton Dewey, ca. 1840, from the church in Pomfret, New York, where he worshiped as a child. He then donated the set to a Congregational Church in Barry County, Michigan, where he then lived. The church was torn down some years later and the set was returned to Levi. Part II/III of the pewter collection of Drs. Donald & Patricia Herr.
