Massachusetts oil on velvet memorial, ca. 1830, for the Cushing family, 20" x 24".
All over tanning. Fabric is wrinkled. Losses to paper on right memorial. Large tablet - Sacred - To the memory of Robert Vinal Cushing who died March 10, 1827 aged 45 years, Benjamin Cushing who died June 12, 1810, in the 70th year of his age, Jane Cushing who died Dec. 25, 1829 aged 82 years, Sarah Cushing who died May 27, 1828, aged 78 years. Small tablet - Sacred to the memory of Robert Cromwell Cushing born Dec. 2, 1814 - died May 12, 1816, Lydia Cushing born Jan. 17, 18__ - died Nov. 4, 1822 (balance destroyed by insects).
