Maryland watercolor street scene of the Residence of Dr. W.A. Riddlemoser of Smithsburg, dated 1871, signed A.Guenther, 9'' x 6 3/4''. Riddlemoser resided in this home on the corner of Main and West Water Streets during the Civil War and General Robert E. Lee purportedly stayed with him on his way back from Gettysburg. Riddlemoser's daughter, Elite Lee, was named after the General.
