Marquis de Lafayette Fete Invitation at Castle Garden, dated 1824, includes a printed request of the honour of Mrs. Wright's company at a Fete to be Given Gen. La Fayette on Friday evening next 10th September, at the Castle Garden, with matching ticket signed on verso by William H. Maxwell who was on the committee, Mrs. Wright is almost certainly Frances (Fanny) Wright who was a Scottish-born lecturer, writer, freethinker, feminist, utopian socialist, abolitionist, social reformer, and Epicurean philosopher, who became a US citizen in 1825 and followed the Marquis de Lafayette and his entourage during much of his farewell tour of the United States, ticket - 2 7/8" x 4 1/4" .
