Vibrant Maine painted pine one-drawer stand, ca. 1835, with shaped backsplash and single drawer, retaining its original floral decoration on a yellow ground, 33" h., 18 1/4" w., 15 3/4" d. Only a handful of examples are known from this unidentified Maine cabinetmaker and decorator. One is in the collection of the Maine State Museum and another was sold at Skinner's; The Collection of Elle Hoover, August 8, 2015, lot 1117. The present example was purchased at a Maine house sale approximately thirty years ago.
