Mahantongo Valley, Pennsylvania painted pine dower chest, dated 1830, inscribed Catharina Ditrich, retaining its original red and black tree decoration with heart corners, 25" x 47 3/4".
Hinges replaced with corresponding repaired breaks to lid. Repaired breaks to breadboard ends. Spline added between end and lid molding. Lacking lock catch. Feet ended out 3".
