Lancaster County, Pennsylvania painted Compass Artist box, early 19th c., the lid and sides profusely decorated with red and white stylized floral decoration on a blue ground, 7 3/4" h., 13" w.
Spline added to lid and painted to blend in. Some areas of edge of lid have glue added around cracks. Touched-up vertical scratch to front panel to right of hasp.
