Lancaster County or Berks County, Pennsylvania Compass Artist dower chest dated 1794, the lid and facade decorated with three ivory tombstone panels featuring pinwheels and tulips, all on a red ground, above two drawers supported by bracket feet, the case with green moldings, 29" h., 51 1/2" w. This chest represents one of five known by this artist and is presently the only red example. Sold July 10th, 1941, The Collection of the late Geroge E. von Nieda of Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania.
