Joseph Nourse handwritten letter, Philadelphia 2 Nov. 1779, written to Major General (Charles) Lee, Berkeley County, Virginia, the letter is in regards to money owed referencing Colonel (John) Bull, (William) Palfrey, and doctor (Benjamin) Rush. Nourse played a key role in administering the finances of the new Republic as was the first United States Register of the Treasury, he also authenticated each piece of Continental currency by personally signing it. Provenance: The Ephemera Collection of Joseph Rubinfine, Merritt Island, Florida.

Some tissue repairs mainly to lower edge of page one, some toning, minor stains and edge loss.
