John Reber (Lehigh County, Pennsylvania 1857-1938), important carved and painted figure of Dan Patch. Without a doubt the most famous standard bred pacer, he was a true celebrity in his day. He was undefeated in open competition and set numerous speed records during his career. This was Reber's most ambitious work. Illustrated in Machmer Just For Nice, fig. 269.
