Johann Jacob Friederich Krebs(Southeastern Pennsylvania, active 1784-1812) - Watercolor and ink drawing on laid paper depicting a soldier with red coat, plumed hat, and spurred black boots, sounding a trumpet and riding a horse, surrounded by tulip, vines, and flowers, 16" x 13" (losses). This is a typical example of Kreb's fanciful hand-drawn work. Pictured in Fraktur Writings or Illuminated Manuscripts by Dr. Donald A. Shelley, plate 199. For a similar example, see Der Reggeboge, volume 22, 1988, figure 16.
