Joel Parks(American, early/mid 19th c.), pair of oil on canvas folk art portraits of Nathaniel and Sally Moody of Sheshequin, Pennsylvania, both inscribed verso with artist and sitter's names, dated 1836, 30" x 25". The Moodys were originally from Boston, where they arrived in 1634. Later generations ended up in Pennsylvania, where Nathaniel and his future wife Sally Snyder were born. They lived in Sheshequin, Bradford County, Pennsylvania for nearly all their lives. The portraits are listed in the inventory of Nathaniel's estate in 1853 when his widow, Sally, was granted letters of administration.
