Jacob Maentel (American 1763-1863), watercolor portrait of John George Kitzmiller (1738-1824) and his wife, Anna Christina (1747-1831), both seated in an interior on blue ladderback chairs with a courting mirror hanging between them, 16 1/4'' x 18''. A portrait of their son, John Michael, also by Maentel, was sold at Sotheby's, October 14, 1989, lot 112. Exhibited: Historical Society of York County, 1944. Provenance: Maine collection.
A few patches along left edge. Conservation spray to entire backside. Minor staining. Small repair above man's shoulder.
